I have been an avid cyclist for 20 years often riding in excess of 7000 miles annually. Until last year I had never had a serious issue with saddle sores. But last year for no discernible reason I developed a pressure sore on my left buttock. It hurt but not enough to prevent me from riding. I tried Bag Balm saddle adjustments and different shorts but nothing resolved the problem. I was pretty sure my problem was a sitz bone issue (who knows why it developed) and decided to try a new saddle. I thought that going to a slightly wider saddle might help and decided to try a 140mm without paying a ton of money. My SDB Bel Air V3 was delivered yesterday I installed it this morning and went on a 31-mile ride to try it out. I don't want to make a final judgement based on one short ride but I think my pressure sore problem will soon be a thing of the past. The design of the saddle distributes the sitz bone pressure over a larger area thus reducing the discomfort. Plus the tilt at the back of the saddle provides additional support and the softer padding is much appreciated. I am fairly confident that a $60 purchase will offset a year's worth of pain and will most likely install the same saddle on my gravel bike.
