The Monarch's lightweight design not only delivers silky smooth travel, but thanks to a redesigned Solo Air spring with updated damping controls, it also delivers a spring rate you'd generally only get from a much heavier coil shock. So you get a durable, fully adjustable shock capable of smoothing out the most aggressive trails, while simultaneously saving you weight for epic cross country riding. The Monarch RT3 features external rebound and 3-Position compression adjustment (Open/Pedal/Lock).
  • Fast Black hard anodized, forged aluminum body with sag gradients
  • RT3 shocks feature external rebound and 3-Position compression adjustment (Open/Pedal/Lock), Solo Air lets you add air to your shock through a single Schrader valve, filling both the positive and negative air spring chambers simultaneously. This gives you a plush, predictable ride you can set up in seconds, with the lightest weight air spring on the market
  • 10mm 7075 aluminum shaft
  • Rapid Recovery allows the shock to recovery faster between consecutive bumps, letting the wheel track the ground with greater precision
  • Intended Use: XC, Trail
  • Mount hardware sold separately (2 sets required per shock)

My mountain bike.;

Many bicycles simply die and go away from frame fatigue. Not so this bike. Parts wear out and require replacement. The RT3 shock replaces an older model shock. Because of a slight size difference an offset bushing is required. Everything works great with the new shock.;

I got this shock to replace the one that came on my bike. The stock one did not have a lock out and it made some of the long climbs in my area quite difficult. I bought this shock because it had the lockout. It works great and I would recommend it. Make sure to buy the fit kit if you dont already have one.;

I am not a bike mechanic just a bike rider. When I replaced my 5-year-old Monarch 3.3 with this Monarch RT3 I noticed they now place the fill nipple at a fixed extended position. The old Monarch 3.3 could rotate to a stowed position. I am not super excited to now have a metal barb protruding toward my knee as I ride! This could cause injury during a fall. Obviously there are many protruding metal pieces on any bike but up until installing the Monarch RT3 there were no metal barbs pointing at my knee! (a mere 2 inches away on the downstoke).

As an engineer I expect Rockshox most likely did this to remove one more seal as the rotating nipple on the 3.3 likely called for an additional seal at the rotation point. But why not make the nipple fixed in a position AWAY from the knee? How often do you need quick side access to fill a shock? Bikes are meant to ride and bikes should be optimized for the RIDING role not the maintenance role. Minus one star from an otherwise great shock.;
