Was skeptical at first to purchase this because of the 5mm outer casing but once I noticed that both of my bikes had a little wiggle room with 4mm casings I decided to give it a shot.

Shockingly enough was able to internally route this on a 2017 Specialized Enduro carbon fairly easy. The frame design has a tunnel (at least on the down tube) that guides the cable had just enough clearance for this 5mm housing. Once the outer housing is through the only additional step beyond a traditional cable setup is the nylon liner.

Haven’t tested long term of the benefits of this design but it seems like it will hold up to even some of the nastiest environments. Tuning the derailleur was a breeze with the new cable.;

I was also concerned with compatibility after receiving the kit. However after reading the installation instructions everything made sense. This will replace your 4mm housing in 99% of installations. (Also if it doesnt fit that shouldnt be a reason for a poor review).

The only case I can think of for this NOT working is if your shift housing runs completely through your frame and the frame openings/exits are smaller than 5mm.

NOTE: The housing ferrules have thinner walls and are the same diameter as ferrules for 4mm housing.

Jagwire coukd do a better job of explaining how this system works and how it IS compatible.

Looking forward to riding in the dirt and mud and not gunking up my shift cable.;
