This is not a bad kickstand but as sold it's missing two pieces that will make all the difference.

I've had to tighten it up a few times (every couple of hundred miles) and that was getting annoying. The reason I needed to tighten it was that the two bolts that hold the main brace onto the bike thread directly into the kickstand and vibration shakes them quite a bit.

This morning I was getting annoyed at the rattle (again) so I stopped by my local hardware and picked up two stainless steel nylon lock nuts (aka Nylock nuts) to fit onto the threaded portion of the bolts that sticks out the interior side of the main brace assembly. With these in place the bolts should never be able to loosen

You will need two lock nuts the size you need is #10-24 Coarse and they should cost you a total of around one dollar (Home Depot sells them in packets of 4 for $1.25 or so). You will be pleased with the results.;

Got other rear stand that clamp mounts to the oval/round tube. Works for a while but then it loosens and rotate around the tube which then bends the stand leg and the bike falls. Really bad for stand to fail like that. This stand have a slightly different design the clamps to the upper tube with two pieces ( instead of one like other stand design). This seems to support the twisting force much better so that the stand stays put. So far so good.;

This is really quite heavy! If you are putting it on a cruiser or department store bike don't worry it'll be fine for you. I was looking to add it to my touring bike and I could not personally justify the weight addition.;

I couldn't get any other stands to fit on my bike as it's a small wheeled (20") folder with a very small bolt hole where a normal kickstand would go and nothing else would fit and anything else I'd tried (different lengths different locations for the stand) to get around it ended up not being supportive at all and the bike would be at risk of falling over especially when panniers etc. attached. Decided to try this one as it clamps around the stays instead and very happy with it also seems actually more stable and sturdy than ones placed more centrally as this is right over the back axel and support the rear wheel directly. Even with heavy panniers the bike stays up.

Needed to cut the support pole but this was super easy with a hacksaw. Just remove the cap shorten it and pop back on. Instructions for fitting etc were also good.;

I'm really glad I bought this kickstand. It is very stout mostly easy to install and completely changed the center of gravity when I have a trunk bag and other items attached to my bike rack. I will note however to be mindful of the length of your chain stay. My chain stay is 17-1/2 in long and I do get a bit of heel strike with the new kickstand in certain situations. When installed on my bike the kickstand comes in about 4 and 1/4 in from the center of the rear axle. I also added some 3M clear protective tape on the bike frame when I installed this. The goal is to hopefully minimize the amount of paint damage that may happen over time with the kickstand installed. I installed one of these kickstands on both mine and my wife's bike. Again super glad I did.;
