this isn't really important to the product itself but I ordered the medium|large but I actually received the small medium. this isn't really the warehouse workers fault: the OUTER label was for the correct item. unfortunately the inner item did not match the outer label. if the person that actually looked at the item inside the plastic bag they would have seen that the description did not match the item so it was my bad luck that they didn't notice. I could have returned it at that point but I decided to compare it to the previous model that I had bought which was the "trail" saddle.

I had decided based on the trail saddle that the small|medium size was too small for me so my original plan was to get the touring model in the larger size thus allowing me to compare the difference between sizes as well as the difference between styles. since this was the same size as the first one I just decided to do a direct comparison between styles.

I've had the touring saddle for a few months now and I have to say as much more comfortable than the trail model though also a little bit heavier. the difference is so drastic however that I find it hard to believe that anybody would ever want the trail version after they've tried the touring version.

it's taking me much longer to start to feel the support of structure beneath the gel that tells me I need the larger size but that's where I'm at now. of course since I haven't tried the larger size yet this is all supposition

with the trail model I noticed that my sit bones could feel the plastic support structure for the gel padding within days of installation especially when riding off road

With this touring model it's taken a few months to start noticing it and even now it's only noticeable on the big hits. what it feels like is that my sit bone is feeling the edge of the support structure when the gel compresses. especially if I hit a big rock or pothole while I'm pedaling.

I'll continue with it a full year before I go up a size.;

Bei meinem Tourenrad wurden Fahrten von mehr als 10 km zunehmend unkomfortabel. Ich habe das erst nicht richtig einordnen können glaubte es läge am neuen Fahrrad und an der neuen härteren Abstimmung. Ein richtiges Fahrvergnügen wollte bei längeren Fahrten nicht so recht aufkommen. Nachdem ich mich näher mit Fahrradsätteln beschäftigt hatte führte ich zu Hause eine Sitzmessung durch und stellte fest dass der vormontierte Sattel für mich zu schmal war und ich einen größeren Sattel benötigte. Bei dem Ergonsattel ist ein Vorteil dass der Sattel einen Sitzgrößenbereich von mehreren Centimetern abdeckt. Man braucht sich deshalb wegen Messtoleranzen keine Gedanken machen. Bei SQLab beispielsweise habe ich nur Sättel für bestimmte Einzelgrößen gefunden. Da ich schon Lenkergriffe von Ergon hatte habe ich den Kauf dieses höherpreisigen Sattels gewagt und bisher nicht bereut. Längere Fahrten sind kein Problem mehr auch teilweise auf unbefestigten Wegen was vorher einfach keinen Spaß gemacht hat.

Tipp: Zur Sitzmessung benötigt man laut diverser Anleitungen im Internet einen Wellkarton. Man kann solch einen Karton auch selbst herstellen in dem man bei einem einfachen Versandkarton vorsichtig die obere Schicht abzieht und damit die Zwischenschicht Wellkarton freilegt. Dann legt man den Karton mit der Wellenseite nach oben auf einen Stuhl. Man setzt sich auf den Stuhl und zieht sich zusätzlich mit beiden Händen an die Sitzfläche heran. Dadurch entstehen zwei mehr oder weniger kreisrunde Abdrücke deren Mittelpunkte man mit einem Stift markiert und den Abstand zwischen diesen Mittelpunkten misst. Auf diese Weise lässt sich die Sitzgröße bestimmen.;

mit diesem Sattel kann ich endlich ohne schmerzenden Hintern fahren! Nach verschiedenen hochwertigen Sättel scheine ich den passenden gefunden zu haben.;

Hatte bei längeren Fahrten öfter Schmerzen an den Sitzknochen. Dies ist hier deutlich weniger der Fall. Auch Touren von 60km und mehr sind kein Problem mehr.;
