Used to be back in the 80's and early 90's you could get Araya RM25 rims which for the price were a nice near bomb proof rim for 2+ inch width tires. Suddenly around '93 rims started getting narrower and wider ones in box section were hard to find. Alex made a 22mm inner width rim in 7000 aluminum (no spoke rivets..) but every other maker was going to "D" section sub 19mm widths and they tended to damage easier. The Rynolites are a modern interpretation of the old Araya RM25 in a stronger and better designed cross-section with stainless steel rivets. It's not a Mavic Paris Dakar but try finding one new nowadays. These built up very straight and are a bargain.;

Very high quality for the price. I bought a set of pre-built 26 inch wheels with these rims Shimano disc hubs and 14 guage steel spokes with brass nipples. I would not say they are meant for extreme jumps but they will handle mild jumps and they hold up well.;

These rims have served me extremely well in some very demanding conditions. Bicycle camping in the Arizona desert off road through punishing arroyos and bad roads fully loaded 100lbs back 75 front plus my weight. They have stood up excellently to my utility biking needs hauling in all seasons being constantly punished and overloaded.

My setup includes some basic Shimano hubs and decent double butted spokes. Probably one of the major factors for their success in my applications was in an very detailed wheel building with 6 pre-stress techniques. I recommend http://miketechinfo.com/new-tech-wheels-tires.htm for a free guide. I have also trued the wheels every 3-6 months (less often than I should).

One problem I had with these rims is that the presta valves couldn't stand up to the weights and conditions. I believe the torque being applied with my loads kept tearing the valve stems off. I solved that by filing the valve openings wider and switching to schrader YMMV. The other issue has been that some tires were impossible to install without damaging the tire rubber and exposing the wire bead. However the latter issue is not uncommon from what I understand.

Being that the price is very reasonable for the quality and that I have essentially abused them I give them 5 stars. Excellent product Ringle!;
