The advantage of the aluminum over the carbon you can squeeze the aluminum cage to hold tight the water bottle preventing from it go flying specially on gravel roads.;

I have two of these mounted on road bike tubes for a couple of years. Flawless performance though ejected bottles (Camelbacks) holds fine Purist Zipp bottles. Mounted one behind the saddle on a tri bike inserted the Xlab storage bottle worked almost for a full season eventually broke the top gripping finger. To be honest at my own risk since Zipp specifically mention these cages designed to be placed on road and mtb tubes. Minus one star for ejection of Camelback bottles otherwise best cage I had for road bike.;
