While I thought this was a bit pricey for a bell it had good reviews and I think the operational design makes a lot of sense for use when mountain biking. I purchased it installed it (some difficulty with wider handlebars but goes on securely) and headed out the next day to hit a trail. When I arrived I pulled my bike out of my vehicle and...the bell lever (that stops the bell from ringing) was broken. Clearly the bike shifted against the front tire while I was driving. However for a $20 bell that should be able to withstand some crashes branch strikes etc. (it IS for mountain biking) I was a bit shocked that it would be broken so easily. The plastic seems okay but I suspect it wouldn't hold up well for pretty standard mountain biking use. Long story short...my fault but I expected a stronger product for the money.

Like others who have used it for mountain biking mine also lost it's handle after a few rides. I loved it up until that point.
