I cut the old grips off slid the shifters on both sides tightened the clamps reused my old cable housings now I get all 21 speeds.

It is hard to believe how well these work considering how inexpensive they are. I am on my 2nd set and they hold up really well too. No-brainer upgrade from the grip shifters that come with a lot of inexpensive bikes.
