These pedals with compatible Look cleats do allow a relatively easy release. However if the ease of release is your primary concern Shimano PD-ED500 Road Touring Light Action Pedals are significantly better. The Shimano pedals set at their lowest tension will allow you to unclip with almost any motion away from the pedal. At the same time they will keep your foot positioned on the pedal and prevent it from slipping around. This is an excellent choice if they are your first "clipless" pedals.;
