I replaced the headset bearings on my 2011 Cannondale Carbon Synapse after 40000 miles. The bottom was perfect after the replacement with no play/movement but the top bearing still had a little play/movement. I replaced the old compression ring with this one which is a slight bit thicker and it eliminated the play completely. Perfect solution.;
