I finally got around to installing this on a new carbon frame. It bolted up very easily. But when I went to put the wheel on I couldn't get the right side axle pin into the hanger. I grabbed my calipers and measured the diameter of the axle pin.....10mm. I then measured the diameter of the hole in the derailleur hanger....9.3mm. I'm going to have to now buy a correct hanger for my axles.;

The benefit of the mid size is that you can run a 32T ring on the back. If your largest cassette ring is 28T or smaller the short version is best. I have two bikes and have the mid size on both. One cassette has 28T with a compact crank 50/34 and the other has 32T cassette with a 52/36 crank. I can swap back wheels if there is a lot of hill climbing on a ride.;

This is a minor upgrade from rival. I am using a force 26 tooth cassette. Works ok with rival expect minor improvement with force derailleur.;
