Auf der Suche nach einem Frontgepäckträger der hält möglichst simpel ist und auch eine ansprechende Optik hat kam ich zu diesem Klassiker von Minoura. Kurz gesagt ich bin sehr angetan von dem Träger. Er ist zwar alles andere als leicht aber das Teil hält ist bis ( wenn ich mich recht erinnere ) 18kg belastbar und die Verarbeitung sowie Zubehör sind wirklich auf hohem Niveau. Perfekt um grosse und schwere Einkäufe zu transportieren. Die grosse Ladefläche ließ mich erst zweifeln aber nach dem ersten unerwartet grossen Einkauf weiss ich sie sehr zu schätzen. Je nach Lenkerform und Breite passt alles ohne Probleme. Mit Rennlenker und STI Hebeln kann es bei einem schmalen Lenker dazu kommen dass mit Gepäck nicht mehr problemlos geschaltet werden kann. Gleiches gilt für "Outfront" Halternungen von Wahoo Bolt etc. . Diese stehen unter Umständen im Weg. Also besser vorher gut überlegen ob es passt.

I've been using this for about a year and as these racks seem to be getting more popular I thought I'd write a review. As mentioned in the other reviews it's not entirely straight when mounted but that doesn't affect the usability at all it's only noticeable when riding as it doesn't align perfectly with the handlebars. I usually put my items in a box or large bag strapped on with a bungee cord and have carried some relatively heavy loads (shopping a few litres of milk big bag of cat food etc) on it over short distances (6 miles or so). The rack is secured to the frame at the top and at the bottom by the wheels so feels secure when loaded but it has come undone whilst on rides a few times which is frustrating and has resulted in me carrying some emergency cable ties to secure it if it happens again I've also found it tricky to find replacement nut and bolts. Overall it's weathered well showing just a few small signs of rust around the joints after a full year of daily use in British weather it's a bit cheaper than alternatives out there but I suspect it's slightly less well made and is a bit heavier (not a problem as it's designed to carry heavy stuff anyway) but does the job.;

This rack was listed and labeled made in Japan so that's interesting. Any rack that is mounted strictly on lower end of the fork will never be as rigid as one that is reinforced by mounts on the handlebar. For my application I wasn't carrying anything more than a duffel bag an/or backpack and occasion shipping boxes or food trays. Otherwise it would be more suitable to get a CETMA rack or equivalent albeit for 2x the price which can carry heavier objects. The rigidity of this rack is dependent on the fork your are mounting to. Surprisingly I've dropped the bike two times already and scraped the rack ends but the rack didn't lose alignment. Handlebars didn't fair as well.

Installation and hardware was pretty well laid out. The only issue was the welds at the eyelet bottoms were not welded on straight as I would like them but tightened they mount flush. There were also these copper sleeves that are installed down there that was provided but didn't fit through any of the bolts so I didn't use them and haven't had problems so far in the month of time I've had.

The paint at the welding points where the rack tubing is met with the L-shaped brackets was not complete so you could get some minor rust after a run in the rain. I just cleaned it up and put some waterproof grease (or you can use paint) and had no issues since.

Overall having a rack like this is convenient if you don't use it for frequent and/or heavy duty loads but want less intrusion/footprint compared to that of a basket.;
