This is a genuine SRAM 1:1 9-speed trigger shifter. It worked perfectly with my long cage SRAM X5 derailleur. Don't try to use a Shimano shifter on SRAM derailleurs--the ratio of shift lever movement to derailleur movement is not the same. Most Shimano's are 2:1. The SRAM X5 is 1:1. Some SRAMs are other ratios also so check which SRAM model you have on the SRAM website for its ratio then choose a compatible shifter.;
