Shimano uses the exact same SL-M5100 part number for the shifter with the visual gear position display and without. This is of course not very helpful. It's not the vendors' fault either.

As a result the listing is very unclear about whether the SL-M5100 shifter you are getting has the visual gear position display or not. Some of the pictures show the display others do not.

I got one without the display - which is what I was hoping. Either option works fine - I just happen to think the display looks a bit goofy and never look at it anyways.

It is a brand-new SL-M5100 shifter with cable cable housing and some cable ends exactly as it should be.;
